First electrified track

The Sommerfeld catenary is rock solid high quality stuff. The metal poles are secured onto the baseboard with a nut that threads onto the pole from below. The over head wires need to be carefully soldered in place and painted a dark color to make them look thinner. One can power trains through them too although I have no intention of doing so.

The S-Bahn is the first to try out my first stretch of electrified track.

Update 2016:

Though the catenary looked great, it is simply impractical on a layout as the slightest bump bends the running wires, and once bent it is pretty much impossible to get a kink out of the wire. My plan is now to simply erect the poles and not put up the running wires. This also makes access to the tracks in large stations practical.
