Illuminated street

I describe here the steps I took to mount the BUSCH HO 2878 backdrop on my layout with two sets of lights, the windows and the streetlights. Here is the finished product so one can see the end result that I was aiming for...

Backdrop lighting

I remounted a backdrop from the old layout on the sky wall behind the farm. This time I placed a strip of warm-white LED lights behind the backdrop so that I can simulate a dawn or sunset behind the mountains.

First I screwed some  ¾" furring strip onto the wall..

Re-sprayed haze

I found that I had sprayed the 'Horizon haze' lighter sky color a little too low so I did another pass - making it higher this time.

I also painted the new column that replaced a rusty one...

Sky painted

I sprayed the backdrop walls a nice blue that I selected. The person at the counter said I would probably only need half a gallon but I thought that was not going to be enough so I bought a whole gallon of a color that Behr calls 550B-5 Windjammer.

I have a paint sprayer so I spent the whole day covering stuff in the area with tarps and fastening masking boards on the sides to prevent over-spray. I started painting at 6:20 PM and within about 40 minutes I had used up the whole gallon of paint. This is mostly because I also decided to spray as much of the ceiling as possible too.
